Scrap prices
What is your scrap worth today?
Scrap metal is priced off the metals markets, so it moves every day. What you are paid depends on the metal, the grade, how clean it is and how much there is. Copper and brass sit near the top, stainless follows nickel, and steel is bought by weight in bulk.
The quickest way to a real number is to tell us what you have. Call, or send a few photos and a rough weight, and we will price it grade by grade.
How scrap metal prices workToday’s price, on the day
Scrap prices follow the metals markets and change daily. Call 01942 906041 or send photos and a rough weight through the quote form, and we will price what you actually have, grade by grade.
Strip-outs and decommissioning
Chunky jobs are what we are set up for
Plant rooms, stainless ducting and hoods, structural steelwork, cable runs and pipework: when a site is stripped out, most of what comes out is metal with a value. Mixed into a general skip it is lost. Segregated as it comes out, it pays towards the job.
We work alongside main contractors and site managers to put the right skips and cages in the right places, collect as the job moves, and keep the paperwork straight for every load.
- Roll-on roll-off skips and cages placed to suit the programme
- Stainless, copper, cable and steel kept apart and graded
- Paid by bank transfer, waste transfer notes for every load

How it works
From a phone call to money in the bank
Say what the metal is and give us a rough weight or a skip size. A photo or two speeds it up. You will know how it will be priced before anything moves.
Call or send photos
What the metal is, how it is mixed, roughly how much and where it is. A few photos usually tell us most of it.
Collection arranged
A one-off pick-up, or cages, bins or a skip on site so it can be kept apart as it comes out.
Weighed and graded
Each metal is weighed and graded for what it is, so clean copper is not paid as mixed scrap.
Paid by bank transfer
Payment against the weights and grades, with a waste transfer note for the load.
Selling legally
Sell your scrap to someone you can check
Anyone buying scrap metal needs a council licence, must check who they are buying from and must pay by bank transfer. A dealer who will not, or who offers cash, is putting you at risk too.
Our licence and our waste registration are both on public registers, so you can check them before you hand anything over. Every purchase is recorded, and every collection comes with a waste transfer note for your files.

Who we buy from
Trades and industry across the North West
Most of our scrap comes from businesses that produce it every week, or in one big go when a site is cleared.
Electrical contractors
Drum ends, offcuts and rip-out cable from rewires, upgrades and new installations.
Engineering and machine shops
Swarf and turnings by metal, bar ends, offcuts and scrapped components.
Fabricators
Sheet, plate and tube offcuts in stainless and aluminium, plus the skeleton left after cutting.
Strip-out and demolition
Plant, ducting, steelwork and cable from decommissioning, cleared with the paperwork done.
Manufacturers
Production scrap, redundant machinery and the waste that comes with running a plant.
Facilities and maintenance
Old plant, pipework, radiators and cable from building services and refurbishments.
Main contractors
Segregated scrap from site, collected as the job goes, so it earns instead of filling skips.
Plumbing and heating
Copper pipe, cylinders, brass fittings and lead from replacement and repair work.

Bigger loads or a strip-out further away? Call us. Distance matters less when there is enough metal.
Do you buy scrap metal from businesses?
Yes. Resilient Contracting holds a scrap metal dealer’s site licence from Wigan Council (SML/S0042). We buy scrap cable, copper, brass, aluminium, lead, stainless, swarf and steel from businesses and trades, and pay by bank transfer once the metal has been weighed and graded.
How do I get today’s price for my scrap?
Call 01942 906041 or send us a few photos through the quote form with a rough weight or volume. Scrap prices follow the metals markets and change from day to day, so we price on what you actually have at the time, by grade, rather than quoting a figure that could be out of date tomorrow.
How will we be paid? Can you pay cash?
By bank transfer. Paying cash for scrap metal has been illegal in England and Wales since the Scrap Metal Dealers Act 2013, so any dealer still offering cash is breaking the law. You get a record of what was weighed, the grade and the price, so the payment is easy to reconcile in your accounts.
Are you licensed and registered?
Yes. We hold a Wigan Council scrap metal dealer’s site licence (SML/S0042) and we are registered with the Environment Agency as an upper-tier waste carrier, broker and dealer (CBDU581935). Both are on public registers, so you can check them yourself before you hand anything over.
Do you collect from site?
Yes. We arrange collections from business and trade sites, and can leave cages, bins, bulk bags or a roll-on roll-off skip on site so metals are kept apart as they come out. Tell us what you produce and how much, and we will suggest the right set-up and collection frequency.
Can you work alongside our main contractor on a strip-out?
Yes. Strip-outs and decommissioning are a big part of what we do. We agree where the skips and cages go, how metals will be segregated as the plant comes out, and when loads are collected, then provide the paperwork for every load so the site’s waste records are complete.
Can you handle our other waste as well as the scrap?
Yes. As a recycling brokerage we can arrange general waste, dry mixed recycling, cardboard, food, wood and electrical waste collections through registered collectors, so the whole site is covered with one contact.
Which areas do you cover?
Our site is at Martland Park in Wigan, and we work with businesses across the North West: Wigan, Leigh, Bolton, St Helens, Skelmersdale, Chorley, Warrington, Salford, Bury, Manchester, Preston and Liverpool. For larger loads or strip-outs further afield, call us: it is often still possible.
